I just got the BMW replacement rubber gasket that seals the rear of the engine bay to the hood. It's grey instead of black. It seems to be the right one, I haven't fit it yet but it looks correct.

Is grey the new BMW color now?

Is there a way to dye it black?

perhaps one of those products for returning exterior rubber bumpers, etc. back to black. SEM has a TrimBlack product, not sure how well it would work on rubber though

Yes, I think that's it. I scrubbed the end just for fun and it turned out like this

Is there a cleaning product that takes what appears to be some sort of protective powder off the gasket? The Gummi is a little pricy to use in bulk.

I think it is the release agent for the mold. Not sure how to get rid of it, perhaps soaking it in some Simple Green for a while then treat with Vinylex or something.
