Well here's my pickle: Sahara has a 3.3 engine with zeniths.

I would like to upgrade the inductions and headers (I bought the Stahl's on CL) on the car.

I have a set of rebuilt weber 44 DCOE's and all the bits necessary. I also have a second 633csi engine in storage w/ the complete EFI system. Alternatively, if someone wants to sell me a Motronic setup for cheap let's talk :-)

So given the choice - which would you install, and why? The car will alternate w/ my other daily driver for days when it's not raining.

Cheers

Weber or FI

I converted a car from L-Jetronic to triple Webers and was very happy w the results.
However I think FI with closed loop AFM control will be superior to sidesdrafts

That motronic pkg is available for cheap on the 5er board

My coupe, with 3.3L motor, originally came with triple webers. I spoke with Carl Nelson who counselled me to ditch the triples in favor of dual 38s because the triples were too much for the low compression 38s.

I took his advice. Te difference in torque with the 38s was much better though I never did try to get the properly triples dialed in.

That said, I do miss the triples, i.e. the look, the smell, the sound.

Thanks for the input so far guys. I have dual Mikuni/Solex on my other car and I am pretty good at tuning and syncing them. So there's that in favor of the sidedrafts. I also have the tools and the A/F meter.

You can change the outer venturis in the 45 Webers for tighter ones which may have a good impact on torque/performance.

James,
Try this alternative perspective.
What is your goal?

If it's performance and drivability, go modern FI.

If it's authenticity, rebuilt Zeniths or the 38's are the way.

If it's character, and "requires driver engagement" go with the triples.

Some people want an old car to drive like a new one (FI).
Some people want an old car to drive like an old one (authenticity)
Some people want an old car to drive like a faster old car (triples)

All good advice. 45's are usually considered too big for a stock engine even choked down so maybe some research there. Triples have their quirks and will test your tuning patience but once set they are really fun and add to the vintage experience which is what i am all about. They drink gas around town, smell and sometimes don't cooperate. But the intake noise of triples will make you feel like you're at le mans in the early 70's even though you're just running to starbucks :-) Road trip to new orleans and take mine for a spin.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. John - you summed it up nicely.

Decisions decisions!

Cheers
