Trunk material

Sorry that I cannot remember who gave me the source...but I ordered from:
Albright's Supply Co. Inc.
po box 565
Corinth, MS 38835-0565
USA
Beluga Vinyl Pearl Grey is the name.....Its the first color and texture that I felt was in the 95% range of both for our cars. The grain is little less rangey, quality is outstanding (I think its better than original). There was a free shipping for a certain amount, so I bought enough for the coupe, the 02, and some extra. Cheaper that buying enough for both cars and paying the shipping, if that makes any sense...They offer a free sample. I think I paid $16.75 per yard this summer, 54" goods. Quick shipping, nice customer service, and they are in the US (sorry off-shore folks)...google for their website.

Beluga vinyl pearl grey is what I ordered in '17...good color and texture...nice people. Unless things have changed, they will send a sample for free.

I know that its not an exact match...I'll try to remember to shoot a picture; if memory serves, its a little lighter in color, with maybe a hint towards blue, as opposed to the usual battleship grey that is a little more "cold". Texture maybe a little bit "better" that the old original...

has anybody set it side by side with the BMW product (new or old)? just curious.
Couple of pics...outside, not full sun...windex clean, not toothbrushed clean vintage piece...
To me the Albright product is a nicer, more subtle hand, not as shiny, or as thin (it's fabric backed)...the oem product is thin, with a little more sheen (more plastic-ey)...it's just what it is/was back then...they cheaped out.
I think the Albright texture looks really good, but as said, color isn't a perfect match, a hint of blue. If you were at a show, and had done your whole trunk, it would look great. No idea how it would look next to the wheel-well covers. So it isn't concours perfect...nor am I...FWIW.

the gray is a 'colder' gray, so Chris is right - too blue. the texture is reasonably close. you can always repaint it with SEM storm gray ... but at 1/4 the cost of the BMW material its a good start for somebody on a budget.
