Trunk Mounted Antenna Hole Location

I had one with the antenna like deQuincey's...since it ran into the trunk, if it has a problem, it's easily accessible, except drivers' side (US) so no fuel filler interference.
I agree with the period visual lyrics as deQ mentioned, but Dr. Robs' logic is spot-on.
 
This dimension is a little too far forward. The antenna area is tight and the mast goes straight up.
On driver side rear. I have a switch to turn off the antenna motor as we rarely use AM/FM. Wish I had the hole filled in before paint.

I have the same position hole as @eriknetherlands but in my case it is 310mm from corner, and in the contrary fender rear RH

I saw that the e24 had the antenna in this RH/rear spot, some people said that rear makes less interferences in reception
