has anyone had the problem of the trunk springs not having enuff torque
i installed the hook part on the bottom of the bracket and it wont stay up
then i overlapped them w/ it on the top to make them work
can they lose tension?
if so what to do?

It's hard to say, are the springs/rods really really loose, as in not holding up the lid at all?
My lid wont stay fully open if I have the stops adjusted too far backwards (towards the rear of the car), but it wont fall all the way down either, it's hanging half open/closed. Have you tried to adjust the stops forward a bit?

In my experience, bending springs rarely works out well. They don't like being stressed past the give point and usually snap. Or, if you don't break them, it will break at the bend later as you have weakened them there.

i just reversed them it stays up now
i may just add a strut and be done w it
as i have one already for the hood
