turn signal light on

hi,
on a '74, anybody know what it means that the turn indicator light (in the speedo) is on all the time? i thought meant bulb was out, but all appear to be working fine.

Dbl check that everything is off. Turn signal stalk in the neutral /off position? Walk around and see if one side is on. It can happen to the best of us.

The lights aren't switched with the key.

problem solved

It turns out that the problem was in the hazard light switch. I isolated it to the switch and cleaned all contacts. It looks like this part had been worked on proir to my purchase of the car. Temporarily fixed, the turn indicator light on the dash is finally turned off. I will purchase a replacement switch, $57 at the BMW dealer.
