Uk E9 prices on the up !

Yes I agree, I think in the micro climate of RHD e9 prices there has been a considerable shift in even the last year obviously as users of this forum we see a lot of US & European cars for sale, I may be wrong but It seems rhd E9 prices are someway ahead now which didn't use to be the case (excluding CSLs) perhaps because they are much rarer in these markets !

E9 rhd prices will go through the roof this year

I think a very useable rhd Csl, not a rust bucket or a mint car, selling for 125k plus this year,

I know through a friend of a friend , who purchased a rhd Csl , late last year for 110k, not mint condition,
He's been offered 120k for his car,

Only time will tell Rohan ,
52k Csl sold recently that needs a lot of work and a shed of a Csl sold at auction last year at 64k, which you are fully aware of
Specialist dealer in Csl cars, has a deposit on a fully restored Csl at 175k when completed this summer,
with a option of a full refund if the car is not as described....watch this space ...

Brexit won't affect the prices. I see less and less of these being offered for sale in any condition. There used to be a few each month but they are now all in the graveyard or being brought back from the dead. Mine was the latter, though still not completely re-animated. Waiting for a thundery night and whinnying horses around my castle for the big switch to be thrown.

Seriously though - with little supply and steady demand it is fair that the prices will rise. If it was a poor car originally and just old, then maybe not such a headlong rush, but with the E9 being a great car, having a racing heritage and looking great, I can see these prices going ballistic.

I did use Brexit as a joke but how can you say it won't affect prices? Arguably it is a tailwind given weaker GBP makes the cars more attractive to other RHD countries or a headwind if the economy here stumbles for a bit and people feel less inclined to indulge in luxury real assets.

The classic car market appears to be bouyed by investors looking for a sure fire return in the age of ultra low interest rates and currency / stock market instability. As the gain on your car is also potentially tax free classic cars look partiularly attractive (and in the case of the E9 positively beautiful). That said it is about time that the wider market appreciates the great value in our cars.

I understand about the uncertainty regarding Brexit - but I believe that things will settle down once more is known. As for a stumbling economy, it doesn't seem to be apparent and we are forecast for the best growth in the Western economies. The sterling being low is also I believe temporary as the economic drivers don't back this up.

Christopher - your point on value is spot on. There is so much money out there looking for a good return. I will however lament the day that our cars are of such a value that they are not driven but just stored in antiseptic conditions for an eventual sale for profit. That spoils all the fun.

As Christopher said the rise in price is due to people with spare cash looking for alternative investments. This happens every time the interest rates drop to the level they are at now it's just that they don't normally stay this low for as long as they have this time.
