UK - Recommendations for E9 Specialists

After a number of years as a member of this forum and not making much progress on my restoration, I have recognise that I just don't have the time or the space to complete my DIY powertrain swapout and I need to find a competent garage to do the work for me.

As much as it pains me to admit defeat and pay someone to do the work, I wonder if there are any recommendations of places that can install the following for me at a reasonable rate:
- M30b34 engine c/w ECU
- Getrag 265/5 dogleg gearbox c/w peddle box
- Locking rear diff
- Disc brakes all round (front vented, rear solid c/w rear beam)

Any recommendations from people in the UK?

Cheers

Andy

PS. I'm midlands based.

I recommend you avoid Little Compton Garage at all costs - pm me for a number of reasons why

@pat cooks would have been the go to guy as every time I visited the work shop he had an E9 getting more power or more gears put in.

Munich Legends may do it but don't expect it to be cheap!

We think you should Keep the hell away from Munich Legends!!!
(Without prejudice)

If pat has the time to do the work , recommend him !!!

well thanks for the nice words guys, I have been retired for over a year now and am not missing 7 day weeks for no reward, the last 10+ years were very bad for me, the 90's were very good though, there is so much advice around it should not be hard to carry out a "normal" upgrade or conversion, I have done nothing with my E9's in the last year, have built up my WW1 motorcycle though, this winter? we shall see, picture is me on the 1914 machine gun Matchless at the tank museum Amiens 100th event last week....

Gather all the parts, invite Don Lawrence to fly in for a week, find some good pubs to kill time with Don for four of those days.

I too was recommended Little Compton Garage - by the CS Registrar from the BMW club U.K. no less! I too would appreciate PMs to understand why I should beware.

@Rek what was the local / cheaper option and for what kind of work? My car is located near you.

Thanks all.
David

peddle box ? converting from automatic ?

just wondering since this is a "UK thread."... what you guys estimate/expect in price for the job here asked by Andy , assuming he has all parts ?

At Gaydon 2018 , biggest bmw meeting of the year ,

I went with my mate sandhu and I came to the conclusion, after talking to several bmw members/ owners of 2002, E9 cars , these garages are to be avoided at all costs ie
Munich Legends
Little Compton
Any bmw main dealers ...

With our prejudice

yep , sure not a BMW main dealer..... mine never heard of W&N.... if they can't find in their BMW computer they are stuck. :D
More , they don't even have the software anymore for checking my '91 BMW 850i … o yes , 2 "old" mechanics that "ever" did some work on them…. they remembered how difficult it is to pull the plugs…. nowadays they only can swap parts with the same number on it....

i think Andy's question is for a 1 man garage with BMW oldtimers experience… not for 3 young employees , half time not knowing how what to do , and a boss above who wants to earn the biggest part.

I do most work myself but was greatly surprized to see my local rally car builder.... amazing how he "plays" with engines, gearboxes and differentials as if it were a Lego build. ( he overhauled my engine ) …. i like to go over there weekly to see his works going on.....
