Regarding the upholstery of the seats in the post BMW E9 models, which have horizontal stripes, do you know if these stripes were originally stitched with thread or heat-formed?

Perforated leather seats in my E70 were fine after 13 years and 175K miles (when I sold it). MBTex isn’t as good as it used to be and wore out on my wife’s suv after about 7 years.The seams in my Koenig seats were stitched; I assume as Scott notes that this was the common practice when these were made in order to get the depth of the pleat.
As to perforations, I agree that they look good, but I don't think perforated seats would last as long. The perforated MB Tex in my wife's 2016 Mercedes lasted only six years before we had to redo the driver's seat.
