After the fitting of my new hood support I drove away with the UPM light on in the tach. In wiggling the wiring that goes into the top of the brake reservoir it went off. SO my question is, can I find a replacement "plug in" or do I need to get a new cap?

Those wires to the cap are removeable so pull them out, clean them, and replace so they are tight.

That light include "Low Hydraulic Level" OR "handbrake Activated" and reacts on closed switches.
If you remove one cable from the hydraulic cap the light will go off ?
Otherwise you perhaps got a sticky (closed) switch at your handbrake.

Or... the level switch in the hydraulic cap perhaps need some exercise? :)

Just wanting to be informative, the UPM stands for Umdrehungen Pro Minute ie RPM as the label for the measure on the rev counter and the light below that is marked with a B for Bremsfluessigkeit as in brake fluid. For more trivia, the the O is for Oel (Oil), the L for Lichtmachine (Alternator), the T for Tank (fuel tank that is) and the F for Fernlicht (High Beam)... there literal translation is Long-distance light. Hope this bit of trivia is of interest :)

Found replacements:

34-32-2-225-602 reservoir cap with warning switch about $20.00
34-32-1-120-843 strainer tube about $5.00

#1 I will make sure to have everything cleaned up before putting it back together. Could be the originals that are being replaced so won't hurt to have new components, especially since they are available at a good price. #2 At the age of the car it is good to see that the warning light works. Don't see it often. Thanks for all your replies.
