I thought this might be a better place to post this question than in off-topic but please excuse me if you don't agree- my question-for comment- is that I, like many of us here, daily comb the web in search of possible additions to our automotive families.

I wonder if overseas there are the same variety of quality cars at what I consider very low prices? For example, a very good BMW 530i with under 100K miles from 2007 for $5-7K. This type of car was quite expensive when new and still can be found with excellent service records, new tires and perfect interiors in the above-mentioned price range. I was just interested in hearing the thoughts (or ramblings) of my esteemed comrades on this topic- particularly those in other parts of the world- which may include California.

Thanks

Other than the M5, I would bet you could readily pick up a solid e39 in that price range. Looking at the BMWCCA classifieds, I see a 530 5 speed and a 540 wagon in that price range. I had a 540 wagon and liked it a lot.

Peter.............You mean under 100K miles correct? Under a hundred thousand. The way 1000K reads is under a million miles. Add three zeros for the K.

Yes, that was a typo which is a bad habit since I'm used to telling people I'm a millionaire instead of a thousand-aire- good grief, I need to take my medication, just can't remember which medication or if I took it already???

And then I was thinking about what I wrote the other day about the prices on Craigslist being 1-2K higher than what they should be, but never the less, I feel that there are allot of fairly inexpensive BMW's out there I guess it's just difficult to find people to fix them -and expensive- so it's not economically worth it. The problem may be that no one wants to learn even the bare minimum to keep their cars on the road. This was so different from when I was younger and anything that we could drive was worth fixing so that we could get from party A to party B. This younger generation just does not party enough I guess???

In the DC area, the kids drive cars their parents have given to them. The parents view this as a small price to pay for not having to chaufer the kids around. The kids don't care about maintaining them.
