As you regulars will know - I’m in the heat of getting my engine done – as I have been hitting the forum for all sorts of help...

I have found a company who will restore my head – but it will need milling flat after welding work

My engine builder is asking if we can get a Vernier Pulley as the timing will be slightly off and as we will be running it on the dyno first, he wants to get it perfect.

I have had a quick look and have found these guys…

Has anyone used them or is there anyone else out there ?? in Europe??

Thanks

Marc

I bought a pair of these from VAC three years ago, but haven’t used them yet.

At that time I was unable to find any other provider.
KM Cams in Norway had one listed on their website, but unfortunately they were already sold out.

Otherwise, if your engine´s original pulley is still in good shape, it is not too difficult to have it modified.

As 2275xxx said, it is not difficult for any competent machinist to modify an existent sprocket. They can be slotted easily with a mill and I am sure at far less cost than what VAC wants plus shipping and in a more timely manner. I would think your engine builder should be able to put you in contact with a machine shop that could do this for you.

My machine shop gets 150.00
Most suppliers charge 150-200.00
If you DIY- remember each tooth is 10 degrees
Each hole should be slotted about 4 degrees.
Holes must be curved to work.
None of the holes are equidistant ie. at 3,6,9,12.
Close but not exact.

Total torque on those bolts at 6000 rpm is 6 pounds so slots are ok- never seen one slip.

Nearly brought one of these earlier this year, when fitting a Schrick cam but timing was pretty close so didn't bother.
