To be really honest, chrome photos are difficult at the least..I'll shoot a couple to you but you will, I'm sure want to see the real thing...I'll bring them all up to the hotel Friday afternoon till about 7:30 or so, then I'll be at the venue Sat morning, but will be parked in the spectator lot, and roaming the venue..so take my phone number, if you are not going to be at Clarion lot. Pics sent...the rubber is still on the passenger side piece, not on the DS piece..same condition, just not attached/photo'd. You'd want to put new stainless strips for the rubber anyway. I don't know what level you are trying to achieve tho...
Any other pieces of interest?

I think we need the heat box fan as well. Also the ac hard lines. Those bumpers look great. I’ll be at the foundation Friday and I’m staying in hot springs so I’ll give you a call Saturday morning.

This weekend is the annual Vintage outside Asheville NC:

https://www.atthevintage.com/event-schedule/

I count 10 E9's among the 650 cars registered. Rumor has it that Gary Beck will debut his amazing restomod 3.0. Early 5 series will be featured. And on Friday, the CCA Foundation in Greer, SC will offer a special preview of the new "Passion" exhibit:

https://www.eventbrite.com/e/passion-50-years-of-bmw-cars-community-tickets-59169051225

If you want to park together on Saturday, you need to enter the event site pretty much together. Some cars will be departing from the host motel (Clarion) but others will be arriving from elsewhere. I suggest that you meet up across the road from the park entrance at 8:45am and get organized to drive in. Folks are asked not to enter the park before 9am.

I'll be in the 2002 targa this year but I look forward to seeing everyone!

Don

Rumor was wrong but thanks Don for trying. I was close.
I won't make it even though I have tried very very hard. I have over 1200 hours in this car since 1/1/19. The level of detail is way above anything I have ever done and only approaches cars I have seen at Amelia. Lots of hand made items and personal touches.
The car runs and drives ok but the door and windows are just not getting along. When I took it to Caffeine & Octane last week the weather was ok and I had the windows down. I have been having problems with the passenger door closing and then when you roll the windows up they (F&R) don't meet properly and would not seal. There was metal replaced in this door and even though it fit nicely with no rubber it now has become quite difficult. The door lock sticks and with the added keyless entry that was a problem. I couldn't lock the door with the key in fear of breaking the key off. The mechanism was bent slightly and was also zinc coated so was a little stiff. Got out my machinist rule and put it up against the plate and then up against the door area where it attaches and found some deviation in the metal. It was less than 3/16 but enough to cause some binding. Now the keyless works properly. Next had to loosen up the vent window frame and move it around so it sealed at the roof. Also rocked it towards back of car as main window needed to move that way. Rear window needed adjustment too so they would seal where they meet. Too many moving parts all at once. Luckily my metal guy had pinned my hinges when he got the doors aligned so I was able to check and set that easily. Still not through and have the drivers side to work on. I spent a whole day on one door and glass. Never done this kind of body work before and when everything is removed it's like building the car from scratch. Be so glad to finish this.
BTW the car appraised for $125000.

How about the vintage in Saratoga NY?

Would love to Stan, someday. I just returned from the Vintage today and I'm pretty beat. Quick recap:

2,048 miles.
Burned 1 quart of oil.
Much time spent at 90-100 mph (allegedly) with a/c.
Driving in North Carolina and Tennessee mountains is amazing.
Met some great folks at the event.
Drove "Tail of the Dragon"
1 passenger door bashed in by a Toyota Highlander.
Serendipitously met a phenomenal paintless dent repair specialist at the Vintage who took me in today at his Memphis shop and fixed it. More on him in a separate post but a couple pics:

For delivering me back safely and reliably the car will get a deep tissue massage up on blocks for a few weeks of cleaning and maintenance while my butt recovers. I love this car and am fortunate to be it's custodian.

I saw this first hand and Lonny and I talked about it. Thought it was too severe for dent removal but those guys can do some magic.
Great job.

Glad you found a talented Paintless Dent Removal guy. It's amazing what they can do. Up here in the Perpetual Winterlands, we have a PDR whisperer, literally works what I consider miracles, on my BMWs
