who knows whether the water hoses sold by w+n are bmw hoses or aftermarket? their prices are good but i know some of the aftermarket hoses are crap.

Quite a perfectly timed thread as I was looking at their kit just yesterday.

The one thing W&N do not do is list manufacturers which is something we are all sensitive to...even though some of those brands we trusted are farmed out these days.

i have been telling this since ever nelly and wally make their own repro parts mostly in india and china
quality has proven to be not very satisfactory to say the less
and they never tell you, so you mgih receive a bmw part or a repro
true is that they will always take back a part if you are not satisfied, but you pay for the shipping twice
a recent example, they offered the rear bumper rubber long piece at a discount, a friend bought those and they are not the same shape as the originals, they fit and so on, but let m explin this way they cover less chrome than the original ones, ...funny isnt it ?

A washer bottle I bought from w&n didn't have the pump priming ports, they took it back no problem

And the clutch master cylinder pushrod, the bit that bolts to the pedal, was made of cheap alloy and snapped in two in fairly short order. Fortunately I could use the 45 year old steel one off the old master.

Not a great strike rate for me

I know op was about hoses, but a few people have mentioned concerns about W&N master cylinders.

I thought all BMW OEM clutch and brake cylinders were Ate brand, and are still manufactured and available from Ate for E9 spec? And can also be ordered easily through BMW parts?

That's what I am hoping anyway .... as I need to buy a new brake master next month.

Mal, W& N only sell master cylinders for LHD in any event. Is there a reason you don't just get your existing one rebuilt ?. I believe RHD is NLA ..

Good advice about the W&N ones. Thanks

With a rebuild I was concerned about delays and my car would be layed up ....probably parked outside the mechanics workshop baking in sun or sitting in rain :( for a week or so while rebuild is done.

Will check with BMW parts Sydney if RHD Ate units are still available. If not rebuild will be my only option.

i don't think they are the same for both sides of the car ... something in the back of my mind (clouded in fog) tells me that the RHD versions had a much different master cylinder due to space

not sure if you're talking about clutch or brake master.... I bought a clutch master from W&N, for RHD. Their E9 part was in fact an E12 part as the E9 part was NLA, this just meant that I needed to get a new hard line made up, as the exit port was in a different place. Not really an issue for me

as I mentioned above, the alloy pushrod part is rubbish, but just swap in the original steel part from your existing MC and you're away

I went new instead of rebuild as I wanted a clean and lasting fix. To do a rebuild I'd need to remove it, examine it, decide how bad the pitting was, etc., and then order the kit (or not)
