Looking for a new SS exhaust! Does anyone have the W&N unit and what has been your experience with it... both good and bad? Certainly know of the excellent SS Coupeking unit, but I like the oem looking components of the W&N exhaust.

Wonder what the shipping charge would be to the USA for the entire system. If I do order from them, might as well get a whole bunch of other parts to offset the undoubtedly high shipping fees.

It has been exactly 10 years since my last purchase with W&N which included an Alpina 4 spoke steering wheel, radiator and among other miscellaneous parts. Do they still require you to fax your order and credit card info to them or is it a more user friendly process now?

Last time I checked they still wanted me to FAX my credit card. Maybe its just me, but that process lacks any sense of security and keeps me from using them.

Just because I am paranoid, doesn't rule out that someone is out to get me.

I drive the W&N ss exhaust for a couple of years now. No problems, just a bit different sound as compared to regular exhaust, little bit more of a growl.
As for ordering with them, that is a simple affair. Give them a call and if they have you in their system that is it. Always reliable, as one could expect from a german (car).

Exhaust

Meaning no disrespect to my US suppliers.....after much research and building of my own with inexpensive mild steel bits....still on going....the W&N system looks very attractive from a price point of view for a straight bolt on show.

Damn the hackers, I just email W&N my credit card number, low hassle level, no problems so far for my one or two transactions a year.

In the olden days the W&N systems were made by Larini out of the UK (www.larinisystems.com). These days Larini focus only on expensive machines ;-(

I put a Larini system on my CSL some 6 years ago - fit and build quality is absolutely perfect!!

so ... if the W&N system is still made by Larini, I would recommend it.

We are in the beginning stages of taking a stock (N.O.S.) unit and making a bolt up S.S. muffler, to O.E.M. spec sizes.

Ron - are you making a one-off for yourself or is the plan to market them to others as well? When you say "muffler" are you talking about just the rear lateral can or the whole exhaust system?

I am talking about from the down pipes all the way back to the tip. I want it to look exactly like a stock exhaust. I just got the idea to do it the other day. I am developing the system for Coupsters and not a one off. The only coupes I have right now are CSLs and I don't want to have anything on those cars unless it came like that from the factory

My $.02 - make it so the stock chrome tip fits on, not just a SS pipe coming out the back. Sounds like a great idea.

+1

i will need to do a similar thing soon, only the central muffler and the rear one, but i will maintain the rear end tube, partly because it is in good condition, partly because of the end chrome tip, it is an absolute must !

This is quite a pleasant surprise. Hope the current W&N SS exhaust is still made by Larini. Very impressive company judging by their website and products.

Thanks for the info guys!

can anyone confirm if W&N is still selling these Larini exhausts?

I emailed W&N a few days ago, and yes their SS exhaust is still manufactured by Larini. Probably will get a set shortly. Shipping to the States is 119 Euros, which is about $160. Suggest grabbing numerous other coupe parts to offset the high shipping fee.

Anybody knows if the original chromed tip fits on W&N stainless exhaust?
Thanks

First post from North London forum newbie. Thinking of investing in a w&n exhaust for my 73 cs. Only thing worrying me is the sound difference to the stock exhaust - obviously won't know until it's bought and fitted. I found this post that mentions there being a bit more of a growl (fine when accelerating) but not looking to raise decibel levels for general cruising. Can anyone who's fitted one share their thoughts?
Thanks
