Looking for a very nice 1974/5 original 3.0CS 4 spoke LEATHER steering wheel... Mine needs to be restored... The 3.0S and 2002 had the same wheel but they were rubber and I need Leather.... See attached photo of a Leather wheel...

I know that the "bus" steering wheels look ridiculous and I should use a Nardi but the car is ultra original and is very late being 9th from the last 3.0CS (12/74) USA So Cal car with all options (Sunroof,Auto, Air, Power Left Mirror etc.) The car still has the Parade Bumpers and all of the Smog equipment installed and working... Many would disagree but it probably should be kept as original as possible...

With all of the wood and aftermarket wheels on these cars there should be a few very nice and original take off LEATHER (Not the Rubber 3.0s or 2002 type) wheels hanging around peoples garages...

What do any of you have hanging on the wall?

Also seeking a nice tool tray if possible for a 74...

Received a call about a Rubber wheel... Need Leather Please...

I already found a rubber wheel but I need a cherry Leather wheel....

Original

I have been following the various posts regarding your car. If all is original and numbers matching, with just a few touches to be 100%, I would not modify. Starting to sound a bit like a museum piece, concourse if you will. Maybe one of the last survivors with no mods.
Go with your instincts, your collection is a car guy "***dream.
For sure your tool tray is out there, albeit pricey. For me anyway...

Isn't the late `74 tool tray a one piece affair that was carried over into the e24? More durable and easier to find I think.

I'm replacing mine with a Nardi and will take a look this week - if the wheel is leather and in decent shape I'm happy to send it to you for no charge other than shipping.

Pamp... It is very nice but not Concours....

My 3.0CS is very original but there are probably better 3.0CS with 100% original paint and interior. This car is not concours just very original and unfortunately a 1974 with the horrible Parade Bumpers and the Auto... I have noticed that a lot of you guys have had your cars for many years and drove them as daily drivers. Back then ALL of our now Vintage cars were no big deal... So swapping the engine and trans was the hot ticket... Just like putting a 912 engine in my Speedster was... The original 356A engine was 70 HP! Screw that everyone put a built 912 (120HP) so they would out run many 911s!

But move forward 20-30 years and who in a million years would have ever thought a 21 Window VW Bus would be worth $60-$70 GRAND!!! People some times pay huge $$$ for all original but stupid cars like a 1971 Pinto...

As time goes on it seems like many more people are beginning to appreciate the unmodified and original cars.

I am considering changing only the bumpers using the new brackets that require no modes and keeping the original bumpers in the attic...

None of you guys have a cherry 74 wheel?

Please... Still looking for a cherry Leather 74 steering wheel...

Hello Jeff,
I don't have one, but I'll just throw these obvious suggestions out...
- have you tried the usual suspects:
Peter coupeking.com
Carl bimmerdoc.com
Dan coupeguy.com
Mario VSR1.com
Don/Mike thewerkshop.net
- since some later 2002 guys fit them to their cars:
bmw2002faq.com
Good luck!

Wheels

Myself, I would get a Petri or Nardi classic wood wheel. Momo / Alpina if you like the fat leather. (my preference)
Surely a good condition original for the '74 will materialize in the meantime if you would want that for show. 10 minutes to swap wheels.

Still looking...

With all of the nardis and smaller wheels on everyones CS there should be someone that has a nice leather take off 4 spoke wheel...

The leather 4 spoke wheels were Standard on the 3.0CS and 3.0S and Si in 1974-76

There should be lots of leather 4 spoke bus take off wheels laying around out there... Right???

The wheel in the photo has 4 seams and what appears to be the original bottom seam...

dp,

I wanted to discuss

Is that just a cover over a nice original wheel or is the leather shot under the cover...

I have a wheel that can be recovered but they never look the same as original...

Is the car in the photo with the dash disassembled a parts car?
