Since Chris has saved me the time and trouble of cleaning the valve cover from my donor engine, I thought perhaps there might be someone with a shiny intake manifold they don't need since they decided to go with triples.

Here is what I have and will send to a local body shop to have cleaned, tumbled and clear coated to match the valve cover if I don't find a better one.

Older Style Intake Needed

Looks like this intake is not going to fit with the booster in my 2800. Does anyone have the older style "ribs" version?

If not, could someone educate me as to what these versions of the intakes are actually called or if there is a specific designation? Looks like there is a large parts section on mye28 which might have what I need if I know how to ask properly. For what it's worth my intake came off of the 91 735 donor head. It's been thoroughly scrubbed (did not get it blasted or cleared yet) if someone needs one.

Thanks again

Benji

These came on e12 and you need the 2 stub manifolds, 6 C runners and the log plenum. Plenums and throttle bodies changed and you need to match the pattern of the four bolts.

there has been a set of these on ebay - 150 bucks. didn't see it when i looked, but i'm sure it will be listed again.

According to famous Terry Conors who has seen a b35 intake swap with stock booster, and has done many FI conversions, the b35 intake will clear by the narrowest of margins.

Thanks for the replies. I'll swing by the shop today and verify with my own eyes that it won't fit and assuming it doesn't, now have a shopping list. I'm beginning to understand why the initial estimate from CK and La Jolla were north of 10K for the engine and tranny swap.

The "log" and "c" runners also look much better in the engine bay than the b35 intake. BTW the "c" runners come in two sizes. The stock size for the M30 and then the larger (longer) size from the 320i (77-79). If you can find 6 of the 320i tubes that is a better way to go. I have a set of the smaller tubes (but no log or stub manifolds) if you need them.

The two stub manifolds need quite a bit of work to fit the b35 head. They need material welded onto the flanges and then the inside hogged out a bit to better match the head port size. There a few threads about this on the forum.

Many of the E12 and E24 guys use the runners from a 4 cylinder E30. They bolt up but have larger i.d. tubes. Biggest problem is you will have to buy a set of 8 to get 6

Ok thanks to Don I think I have everything I need. Now that I'm at it though, I'm going to replace the brake booster. I've emailed Ben already but just in case anyone has a new one or Solid rebuild, I could use it. Thank you

what a mess... Whistler has seen nothing but rain and freezing fog.
Cancelled today and lost 800 bucks to United Air.
Leaving for Tahoe tomorrow. Heavenly has 175 acres open of their 4800 acres.
That's less than 5 % of the mountain....
My ski pants don't fit anymore and lift tickets are now $140.00
Thank God for the company of my kid and a positive attitude!
