Alternate

I made an extra from the e3 grilles
cut them out and made the face plate
so as to not cut up my original
the e3 has 5 fins instead of six looks fine though

Hi Alan, thanks for the offer. Are you putting a cs back together now? I was thinking of using a early e3 7 slat ac console if I can't find a e9 console. The 5 slat console and e9 console are they later 74 as they have inscriptions in white lettering?

Bob,

Our 2800 has no lettering, I think earlier cars did not come with them. All e9 I have seen have them and later e3 as well. The e3 grille is too tall, seven slats vs. six and side profile is different, poor fit to console sides. People use them but fit is very poor, radio will be below shift platform too.

Thanks Chris yeah the profile and hight will throw off fit. So I'll have to go with the 6 slat w/o lettering for the 70 cs.

A large opening for a DIN sized radio, not a shaft radio. When you said radio cutout I thought you meant large opening, they all have a radio opening.

Late US upper vent controls?

Do early cars have inscriptions or is this just late coupes? I recall most have the triangles, square and diamond shapes. I've seen ones in german script also.

you might want to specify whether you want an uncut one (for the original blaupunkt frankfurt ... or if you are willing to take one that has been cut for a newer style radio.

i will give you a hint - uncut ones are near unobtanium ... or just ungodly expensive.

i sold my spares ... except my perfect uncut one ... and it is NOT for sale.

my '71 2800cs has symbols. if i remember correctly, it was in late 73 when they changed to text - i could easily be wrong.

This one needs to be restored. I believe it's from a very early e9. No idea what the market value is, but would like to hear from anyone who does have an idea. The last one I sold was years ago, so that's no help.

Over the years I have sold some stuff and given a lot away. I hate to have it all just sitting there. I think it may be time to get rid of some more.
