I mentioned this briefly in a previous thread.
basically a blown head gasket after a topend rebuild including a skimmed head, new cam etc. That rebuild wasn't due to an overheating problem.
...a failure in a cooling hose caused an overheating this time, but the mechanic says the block will be warped.....I can't find any reference to warped cylinder blocks so far and wonder whether I can just ask for the new gasket and reassembly ....as obviously if the block needs skimming it's a total engine out and rebuild. big money, or more than I can afford right now anyway
The mechanic is saying it's a waste of money not doing the whole job.
As he hasn't got the head off yet, he's just assessed the job from the evidence of blown head gasket, water in the exhaust, bubbles in the water reservoir.....
So, again, is a warped block likely ??
Thanx for your views J.
