Water Pump Pulleys E9

I have some left over "mistakes":

1. a new steel pulley OEM 11-51-1-271.423 w factory sticker, this fits the "spin on" type water pump, the bolt pattern is a rectangle, this is a $300 plus part from BMW $175 plus ship.

2. a new "Uroparts" aluminum pulley for a serpentine ribbed belt, 11-51-1-436-590 - PRM square bolt pattern fits later BMW 3 and 5 series not the E9 $30 plus ship.

This is factory new stuff. If you rely on photos rather than part numbers, you will make the same mistake I made.

If I may, what was your mistake? I know it fits my E28 535.

I needed the pre-spin v belt pulley ... for a 74 3.3 CS

Thank you. Why replace a steel pulley, unless grossly damaged? As you can tell, I am fairly obtuse on these issues.
