Success so far, I took the top off the back carb and cleaned all the jets and air correction tubes, I took the floats out and checked to make sure they were still floating. I also cleaned the inside of the carb I also measured the float open and closes levels. I had someone crank the car while i watched how much gas came out into a jar. I also connected the top of the carb to the supply hose and watched gas come out from the open needle. All looked good. So maybe the carb needed a good cleaning. I test drove it for about 15 miles and it drove well. It starts right up now on the first turn. I may take the top off the other carb and clean it out too, very easy to do. This is fun to me, fixing stuff and seeing the results of improved performance.. So this adventure resulted in the following repairs
1. replaced fuel filter
2. replaced Allison elec ignition with a Pertronix - car ran better
3. Replaced plugs (Bosch) after 7 years with NGKs - car ran better
4. checked timing made minor adjustment using vacuum gauge - car ran better
5. Took top off carb and cleaned out all jets and bowl once I found out it was not working due to no gas getting in (no more loss of power)
6. replaced coil with new one I had in my part dept
7, Checked carb base bolts, some were loose tightened them, replaced internal filter
8, checked linkage to make all was working and not binding
0. Checked gas cap gasket was loose on new cap replaced with old one
10. fixed vapor hose leak in trunk
11. checked gas tank found ground wire was disconnected (gauge might work now)
