We bought this orphaned '74 3.0S today.. its been sitting for several year, possibly decades. the temp tags in the window say 2007.. Title(s) confirm that the 68k miles on the OD are acurate. General condition backs it up as well. Looks like the PO was chasing some electrical window issues way back, as the switches are pulled and the fronrt door panels area off.
I will be reading and learning what it will take to make this car my own. If you now me from 2002s or e28, The Vintage, etc.. you know I can't keep my hands off..but who knows. Its damn well preserved.

My biggest concern currently is the dry leather interior.. I want to do my best to save it, as it wasn't worn or split prior to being left in a garage for years. But I'm sure it will just disentegrate if it were not addressed, and that wouldn't be good. Any reccomendations from guys who have successfully re-softened leather would be welcomed.

Stay tuned!

i would look into Leatherique products. you need to thoroughly clean the leather, then nourish the leather with their products. if you need to re-dye the leather, their dyes are good too.

looks like you found a car that will be worthwhile to save + revitalize. can't tell from the pics - Atlantik or Schwarz? looks atlantik. well done - keep us posted

@CSteve
Steve,
You can see how the wheel well moldings look on an E3 in the pics of the car above. I'm not crazy about them on an E9 but I think they look great on an E3. They are more delicate than those I've seen an E9 and fit well with the luxury theme of an E3.

Welcome to the E3 club! This site has been a fantastic resource for me.. and along the way I've made several new friends who really helped me out.

If you live on the west coast I hope to see your vehicle at the Vintage BMW show at Woodley Park in Van Nuys, CA.. or perhaps we will cross paths at
the Laguna Seca Historic races in August. I've met a number of E9 owners (including race car owners) who have been really generous and allowed my
kids to to sit in their cars at the paddocks.
