The Tii has a power surge? It probably leans out the number 1 cylinder and burns up the valves.
I reached out to a couple of gurus with your picture. Terry Sayther says "never seen that before". JimK over on FAQ seems to think someone thought they were smarter than the BMW engineers and added a resonance device on the runners (it appears your #2 runner has one too... I assume they all do). That would provide a "hammer" effect and could boost power, but only at one resonant speed; unfortunately, the Kfisch system can not adjust for that. Soooo... not sure what it gains.
Apart from that, I might look into a proper Tii airbox and ditch that cone filter. The Tii airbox is actually resonant-tuned for the engine and does a much better job. My '72 Inka has a Tii engine, but wasn't a Tii car, so it did not have the hanger brackets for the airbox. I made a bracket that attaches to the strut top bolts. This is a similar bracket as Alpina would supply with their twin side draft Weber kits and open-filter airboxes for the 2002. Here's mine:

I would reach out to them and find out any info they might have on the work they performed. A Tii engine is fairly limited in what performance extras can be done without serious changes to the KFisch pump.
Hopefully you can find out more! Again, there are several folks on FAQ that have forgotten more than most of us will ever know about the Tii engine. I would pose the question there.
