Plenty of great articles in those back issues, btw.
Wonder what the story of the absolute best CSL "steal was? I'd imagine someone bought one with a dent or blown motor for a salvage…get it off my lot price?
Saw the Taiga Green Toronto CSL yesterday at Tedfest with a For Sale sign on it.
I happen to find a copy of Hemings from Feb. 1999. Two CSL's for sale for what a fair condition CS goes for now. One from Fantasy Junction for $22.5K and one from our very own coupeguy in Co for $19K. Not a bad return.
I passed on a mid 70's 911 in very nice condition for $9500 about 11-12 years ago....:-( I also fully restored a 69 1600 all by myself over the course of 1 -2 years, drove it 400 miles, and sold it for the parts I had in it...it's worth about 2-3x that now...and it was awesome. :-(..
If the "CSL that got away" stories weren't bad enough, the "RS" ones are truly awful. It's like the articles you read of guys who bought a 250GTO in the early seventies for a few grand. Old racing cars were yesterday's news for a while......
I went to look at Sam's CSL - very nice car and in the end stupidly decided to restore my own one! In the garage next door the guy had a white/blue RS also for sale for £35k - not sure if it was a touring or lightweight. So they are both roughly up 1000%
