Peter, I’ve got a spot for Tina too (first photo). Guess my taste in rock stars is showing my age. I’m still very sad about Manzarek’s passing, I always caught him & Robby when they played the Northeast.

Bob the machine with the spring is an ultra-rare Pettingell power hammer for making compound curves in flat sheet metal. The white hammer has been for sale for several years now for 20K. At 66 I don’t really need 2 power hammers anymore and would like to pay off my hospital bills but I’m still gonna hate to see it go.

A few more sign photos and the only thing in the shop I consider art, my 33 Ford coupe project. I leaned the windshield posts back & softened the radius where they flow into the roof. I also leaned the B pillar area of the roof forward so now the window opening looks more like a chopped 36 three window. I hope my health holds out and I get to finish it but right now I’ve got to take care of my 91 year old mom and some other more important projects, :( sigh. ~ John Buchtenkirch

Yes John, it would be nice to have some "real" artists in the music industry. Maybe that's why many of us turned to cars (and garages) to fulfill that part of earthly existence.- Great shots from everyone-wouldn't have expected less :-)

Very sharp eyes sir :shock:. I’m not sure of the year of the grill, but definitely fatter than a deuce grille. Very rough & rusted…. only good for a wall hanger or rat rod. My coupe is a 33 for sure but I’m glad you think it’s looking like a 36. ~ John Buchtenkirch
 
Wall of Shame

I'm saving up parts from botched repairs (mostly by professionals, but plenty of my own).
I intend to create a Wall of Shame with these parts as I think the stories that can be told around those parts are more meaningful to me than all the expensive vintage posters and other automobilia. The latter mainly serve to show off what a good (or poor) shopper I am.
 
I have a wall of shame (4 broken fans etc) and a wall of conquest (old head gasket and a/c parts etc) but I have rented a large dumpster for the weekend so I can purge the attic, basement, and garage of all accumulated and unnecessary junk. Then the garage gets a redo and the cycle begins again...

I Had my camera hanging around today and snapped some artwork from my Coupe's nest.
After I took one of the photos, I noticed that a picture frame is full of Mold! Egads…not quite artistic Mold. Must have a problem inside that wall I really don't want to deal with. It will have to take me out.
Anyway here are the highlights of the Gallery

Steering wheels and precious parts above my desk and a trio of Rhodesian Lancasters.






One of the most inspirational mechanical objects ever built. The Britten V1000, a totally hand built V Twin racing bike that finished second at Daytona . John Britten
(a mad Kiwi who succumbed to cancer) built the frame, engine ,suspension, wheels and designed the engine management and aero bits in his garage on a shoestring.





An original painting by RUNT, who I met in a bar 15 years ago. It used to be in my Son's room and he is now suitably warped.

A Signed photo of World Downhill Champion Eric Gauy (He grew up where I skied as a kid) under a beautiful piece of metal






Some found art that a Ukranian guy in a bar offered me. (the whole car was too moldy…maybe this is where my mold comes from)

Art is what you make of it

I've got a white door in the garage that's begging for some artwork. I took some bits that are available on the internet and put them together in a composition that pleases me.

I'm going to project the Photoshop file onto the door with a cheap projector I bought and then trace over the line art with a marker or paintbrush. The BMW logo will get paint. It should be pretty easy though the devil is in the details.

I have 4 steel storage doors that will get a selection of posters since I'll easily be able to pop them up with magnets and rearrange them as I see fit.

I've toyed with the idea of creating an art piece out of my CSI nose. The front end and headlights with a dim glow. I don't have room to mount it in my garage, but I'm sure someone might find it appealing.
 
Markos, I think you should use the nose to make an outdoor bar! I'll donate a pair of wheels that you can use as stands. I am going to use a pair of wheels and the half-shafts to make a couple of outdoor seats, where the seats themselves will be cut from a huge oak I cut down. With the help of a friend we created a nice indoor bar from a center section. "from Art car to Car art"!
 
Happy to have the front of the old style BMW dealership Roundel outdoor sign. When I bought it, it came freight delivery in a wooden crate. I asked my husband to un crate it upon delivery. So he comes in the house saying he wondered what took me so long after he discovered what it was.............I said that it was our new head board.
 
I have a lot of garage art from my Art Car collection to steering wheels, numerous BMW posters, numerous license plates from CT 1912-'56 and a 2 foot lighted BMW sign.

Now that sign is real cool! I would have preferred that one. Head board would have been a problem though. (We did not do that BTW, its a joke.) Could you imagine your wife wanting a Roundel head board?
