What is this 3.0 CSL worth?

I've come upon a 69,000km 3.0 CSL with factory batmobile tail, fender fences etc. Car is very original, perhaps borderline rough, but the owner claims the car is and always has been rust free. Original paint, no major body damage, just some minor front end munching. He also claims it runs well, with recent brake overhaul and major service. It's Golf Yellow with a black interior. I'm sure it woudl respond well to a thorough clean. Ideas on value?

TIA

i tried to embed them as images but it didn't work so we'll have to make do with urls.

It's all about the rust! If it is a #'s matching car with service records with minimal rust I would say that 50K-60K is not out of the question. Serious rust could cut the value in half....

It appears to be in pretty good kit. It doesn't look like a city pack car either, so that will be worth more. I'd venture around 50k, if the rust is minimal. I'd check to make sure it has the aluminum boot and hood, though.

the owner claims no rust at all, which seems improbable but the car has been in dry storage mostly since the 80's. the shock towers do look very solid in the engine pic.
my understanding is that all cars with the batmobile rear spoiler have steel trunk lids to hold up to the force from the weight and downforce generated by the spoiler.

Is the car in San Diego by chance? If so it may be the CSiL thats been for sale and knocking around for ages. Supposed to have been rolled and the top replaced as well as a lot of other body work. What is the VIN? Talk to Carl Nelson when he gets back from vaca next week, he knows the car. Good luck.

no, the car is back east, virginia or somewhere like that. the owner is selling becuase he doesn't use the car. he has a collection with duesenbergs and stuff like that, so the CSL is not really a high priority for him.

A Series 2 bat? I'd guess well north of 60k if it's numbers matched and not a rust bucket. Restored, these have sold for 150k or more.

CSL Bat 2

Although there are a few anomalies with this car, it does look like one of the 57 from the last batch of CSL´s. Chances are good that it could be number 4355020.

This car looks dodgy to me :!:

Those who argue that this is one of the last 57 Bats made, please help me understand how you arrive at that conclusion :?

To my understanding the radiator expansion reservoir on a 74/75 model should be the plastic version, not the metal version. I believe this change was made in 10/73.
Furthermore I thought the 2nd series Bat were only delivered in Chamonix or Polaris!
Finally the rear spoiler should have 3 vertical supports if this is a 2nd batch Bat

Until someone confirms the exact VIN (preferably with a photo) I am not convinced this is a 2nd series Bat, in fact it may not be a Bat at all

The colour is not a problem, there was is a yellow one in that US owned or was owned by Markus Glarner(sp). As for the spoiler the three fin point is a good one. The car may not have had a kit on it though and someone added one. The duck tail shouldn't have a rubber edge either.

FWIW;

The car has obviously been resprayed. In the last pic post the hood sound deadening foam is yellow!!

I agree the car seems dodgy...The metal coolant reservoir, the improper tail fin support (two vs three supports) the rubber edging on the trunk, and anyone with such a rare car would probably not have shabbily sprayed color right over the engine foam.

I'd look very closely at this car before putting any money on the table.
