Upgraded my alternator. This was in series between the alternator and the regulator, ie, alternator ran to this and this went to the regulator. It was attached to the regulator, hanging from it. Per part number it is a suppression capacitor which does what???

So is this a stock item or upgrade? It no longer serves a purpose, do I keep it for originality?
Probably added by a dealer or the prior owner.
Was added when the radio was installed. Yank it.
