hi!
I had to dismantle 55Ah alternator of my E3 3.3L, dead diodes and rust made that alternator useless.
I want to restore also alluminium parts to original shine, any suggestion?
Thank you
Francesco

not in all the cases, but i use AUTOSOL in the aluminium parts ( i.e. in the waist line mouldings), together with steel wool number 000, and then wipe and shine with a cloth

anyway it is recommended to try and check in a small portion of the part you are trying to clean to avoid unexpected damages

do not use the steel wool in the chromed parts !

For things like Alternators, if they are taken apart, have the housings bead blasted.

Any wheel polish/paste will make it look good, but there are lots to choose from. You may need to use a buffing wheel on a drill to make it easier...

I have had luck with Barkeeper's Friend and a wire brush.

Aluminum Wheel Cleaner with acid or Aluminum boat hull cleaner with acid for cleaning. Then “Mother’s Mag & Aluminum polish” with a buffing wheel and drill will do. >>>

Use this acid cleaner on products we repair at my foundry, makes old parts that have been in salt water for years look new.

didn't think about boat hull cleaner .......
