I just wanted to check to see what the material the
kidney shaped 14" x 7" wheels are made of. I think
they are of a very thick Aluminium but I have been
told they are made of Magnesium.

Anyone know for sure?

Thanks,

They are aluminum. magnesium is lighter and much more expensive, the term "mag wheel" is a misnomer in most cases.

Are you able to post a picture of these wheels?

The three most common E9 wheels are:
The early 5 spoke 14 x 6 with chrome center cap coveriing the lug nuts.
The late 20 spoke "Alpina style" 14 x 6 with exposed lug nuts.
The 20 spoke 14 x 7 true Alpinas with exposed lug nuts (standard on CSLs - optional on CS)

Yes Mark those are the ones. I thought they were Alum.
My spare is bent pretty bad. I just bought 1 from CSi
to replace it and plan on refinishing all 5.

Thanks for the input and to Mark for the pic.

Personally, I've never care for the original CS 5 spoke wheels, but it sure looks alot better without the small hubcaps. If you have the opportunity, check out the similiar wheels on the 2002 or the Ferrari wheels of the early 1970's, both did not have the hubcaps.
