Wheel Studs too short

The wheel studs on my '74 CS are the correct length for the stock wheels, but are too short for a set of alloy wheels I'm looking at. The studs are held in place by a steel plate which appears to be held in place by the axle crown nut. Is this correct or is there another way to get to the studs. Are the studs threaded into this steel plate too?

The studs are pressed in from the back side. You can get longer ones and replace them. I had two broken off when I bought the car so I replace all of them. Ordered them from Bavarian Auto and, as with my last several order from them, they sent me the wrong ones. Try Mesa Performance.

Yes, the plate you are refering to is the wheel hub. It would be a good idea at this time to repack the wheel bearings and replace the grease seal.

I would

say no. Ireland describes them as long. Probably for a different wheel or racing regs which require a specified length past the nut for visual inspection.

The stud is available new from just about anywhere based on the part number.$4. Unfortunately the parts number doesn't give a length otherwise Dorman would likely work.

same problem

John, i am having the same problem (i think) see my posting from yesterday "wheel offset", car is at the shop for some brake work and i want to replace the stock wheels with alpina style 14 x 7 wheels i bought. Mechanic is telling me "they dont fit" and i believe that it is possible with longer studs. can somebody please confirm if these studs would work?

Use- ARP 100-7715

Available e-bay, jegs etc... $30-50 for a set of 5 depending on source.

Worked great for me.

Reviving the thread for studs

Don't know how many other people are looking for these longer studs to solve some sort of wheel fitment. Thanks goodness I found the right info. I just bought tow sets of the ARP 100-7715 (10 studs) from Jeggs on ebay for $32.99 and free shipping. Looking to install a set of 16x8 inch BBS style 5's on my 2800 CS :-D

i need to replace my original rear studs for longer because i need to place 20mm wheels spacers, anyone of you knows the orignal size of the 3.0cs stud ?
