I have to buy pistons and intake valves too.

Mahle is not available or ridiculously expensive so I may buy pistons from this site.

https://store.vacmotorsports.com/cp...piston-set-for-896mm-stroker-crank-p1608.aspx

Then I may buy intake valves from ebay. From which seller I don't know yet

These are expensive stuff so I have to buy those from right people.
Now I am open to suggestions about where to buy pistons and intake valves...

Vac Motorsports is a really good company with a stellar reputation. Tony knows what he is doing and builds great engines. they predominately build race engines or extreme road performance engines so make sure you know what you are getting. another company that you might want to look into is Wiseco - they made a lot of pistons that people used for e30 m3 engines that were going from 2.3L to 2.5 ... i think the Turner motorsport kit for that engine rebuild used them. well Wiseco might not work, i didn't see an 89.6mm piston for a BMW.

Removed reply as I thought he was going original but see the link for a stroker motor. I wanting original items, PM me.

If going with forged pistons expect to hear piston slapping until the motor is warmed up.

I just want something reliable that is all, not looking high performance. Noise is not a big issue but does piston slapping affect reliability of the engine.
I am getting my engine rebuilt now so I don't want to take risks for the future.

I bought CP Pistons from VAC for my S38 build 8 years ago. Surprisingly they are about the same price now. Great reputation and well made.

Ireland Eng has valves.

Sf don has answers, parts and could point you in the right direction for anything else, he's taken allot of the guess work out of my build

all of those new bolts, powder coated manifold, etc. makes a real visual difference Peter. looking GREAT + Don is the mentor

With forged pistons you need to warm up the motor before driving too enthusiastically or so I have been told.

The newer technology for forged pistons eliminates the cold piston slap which forged pistons are known for. I have forged pistons in my engine and have not heard any piston noise at warm up. They found that the addition of silicone to the metal helps reduce the metal expansion, eliminating piston slap and cylinder wall damage due to the slap. I personally like getting slapped, and slapping. FYI

I had a great deal of help from Terry Sayther in the internal build, he basically took what I did and took everything apart and did it correctly, although I can't personally take credit for putting the pistons in 180 degrees off, that piece of engineering genius was accomplished by the "engine builders" in San Antonio, TX., whom I won't name because it's not nice but if anyone is considering a shop in San Antonio please let me know so I can discreetly bad-mouth them. I considered having them killed but the price was too high and I already wasted enough money on them.

Long ago I had some fools put pistons in my 2002 backwards, worked OK for a while, then they shattered

For my E9 I bought JE pistons, they will make whatever you want

I did JE pistons in an 02' I did. They were fantastic, and yes, they make them any way you want. I've been dealing with Steve Nelson at Top End performance for over 15 years. He knows more about these motors than anyone I've met. Sometimes people think he can be a little short on the phone, but if they knew how many people called him for advice, then argue with him about it...it would shock you. I've listened to some.. He's helped me with so many engine builds and repairs I've done. He's given me tons of advice even when I was doing all the work myself...:-). Luckily, I can just drive to his shop..
