I have a 3.5 M30 engine in my car. I replaced the later sump/oil-pan with the original one to clear the cross member but the original dipstick doesn't seem to show the correct levels. The newer on doesn't work either.

Any ideas?

I have a red one (not much of a description I realize...) and it is one quart wrong. In other words, it shows about 5.5 quarts with the line in the middle.

Best way to find out is to drain the oil completely, refill it with 6.5 quarts, run the motor so the filter fills up and see what story your dipstick is telling you So for me, I need to go half a quart above the top line to be good. I would love to find a correct one in case someone else does a refill

The question is which tube to use.
the tube length must match the original length

there are 4 dipsticks that I know of.

early red
early yellow
late yellow
late red
