Getting down to the nitty gritty and I found 2 jacks in the bin. They both came with the car... so which one is correct? The stand-up jack looks like one I had in an old 530i and I don't recall ever seeing the smaller jack in a BMW but that's my question.

Thanks

Peter,

the one on top of the pic looks like a current VW jack. i happened to have looked at the one in my son's jetta last night.

Thanks

unbelievable RS that you would not only know that it's not a BMW part, but what it belongs to! I found a few branded WV parts in the trunk along with some odd weatherstripping when I bought the car so I am assuming you are correct. Thanks all!

I'm planning my first drive for this Sunday and I appreciate all the help!!

Cheers,

Personally, I would go to an automotive junk yard or swap meet and find a scissor jack with extension handle. I just can’t see much sense :?: in jacking up a 40 year old uni-body car by the rocker panels. I would recommend only using the suspension cross-members for jacking. ~ John Buchtenkirch

The smaller one looks like the jack from my e28....
i forget what the jack to the e28 is like, i don't think i ever used it when i had an e28. the thing that makes me think its a vw jack is the fitting to lock the jack into the groove on the rocker of the vw.

Yep, stole my wife's Highalnder for this purpose. I have the little handle one like Stan's
