I was out for brekky around El Porto and saw a beautiful white e9 near the beach. Intersection of Rosecrans and Highland. I was able to briefly exchange hello at the traffic light and the gentleman told me it was his fourth e9.

I got his license plate. Is it OK to post it in a message like this? I notice people often blank out the license plate in photos. I'm not sure why since they are obviously out and visible by everyone...

He mentioned he sometimes checks this board but it didn't sound like it was very often.

Unfortunately the light turned green and we had to split.

Does anyone know who that might be?

License plate numbers are mostly used to identify a driver that did something wrong.
If the gentleman did nothing wrong then no need to bring the license up.

A white coupe? Stan in one his business trips?

That would be nice but a bit of a hike from NH.
I need to have an E9 in a garage somewhere out there...

There are 30 documented Alpinweiss and Chamonix cars in California. Happy hunting!

Something wrong? Most definitely not. He was driving a coupe so he was definitely doing the right thing!

I did not know this was a sensitive issue but I had a feeling something was up. So I did not post the license. I just wanted to see if anyone knew him so I could get in touch with another couper in my area.

All in good spirit.

Any other unique parts or distinguishing marks?
What kind of wheels? Any stickers in the window? Blue plate?

Good point.

It has the "new" California black plates.
Alpina 15 or 16 repros (I'm guessing they are repros...)
Lowered like a CN springs would.
Either a recent repaint or a very well kept older Chamonix paint job.
Gave the impression of a very well maintained car.

Super nice grey haired gentleman for the 10 seconds I got to talk to him. Had an obvious passion for the e9 since he had owned four...

I am just repeating what the officer said when he caught me driving the Fulvia with no plates...
His words not mine.

Another nice Coupe in LA - Great!

I haven't seen that one around, but since I'm a recent new owner my senses aren't as sharp in finding them as yours probably are. I will be on the lookout!
