Who's Key is this?

When cars are rust prone sometimes the only surviving part is the key. I owned a Euro 1977 E24 that was reduced down to a key, which is still have.

Is the key smog exempt or does it require periodic inspection?

Guessing you probably skip a lot of the scheduled maintenance.

Carry liability coverage? What's your deductible?
 
funny story - 15 years ago, my brother and i stopped by a car dealership that has a 3.0cs on a podium in front of the dealership ... on a sunday with the dealership closed. i took the bavaria key out of my pocket and it unlocked and started the car ... so we tested how well it ran, couldn't drive it ... but it was pretty wild. so you never know in old BMW if the pebra key will start / unlock other old BMW

That's because the key was designed before the advent of El Niño. El Niño is not covered by the warranty. Just ask any of the experts in the redfront auto parts store parking lot.

PS, Does the shop manual mention naval jelly?
