you have to know what kind of suspension Barry has - my guess is one with slimmer springs ... as i remember, he either is running coilovers or air bags. with 17" wheels, you gain a little clearance due to the slopes of struts / suspension. my car has 215/60-15's with carl nelson springs and i can tell you that if the suspension compressed a lot, the rear fender lip and sidewall of the tire would contact. there is a lot more curve to the sidewall so that it wouldn't contact with the tread but i can tell you that its close enough for me.Wow. Pretty amazing that Barry is able to get away with 10s. That is 2” wider than what I’m considering. 1” on the outside, 1” on the inside… I guess part of the secret to his success is stretching the narrow tires onto wide wheels? Like @rsporsche says, it’s not recommended but does help the tires clear the fenders
