We all remember “theonlyone” from 2021 on BaT. The Malaga CSi is back and last time it got to $72.5K in 2025 and did not meet reserve after reaching $91K 2021. Will be interesting see where it goes this time but I think it was overpriced last time. Why do sellers think it is important to show tire treads on ten year old tires? And the seller was absent during the last auction.

Reading those bills for parts… $1400.00 for injectors, $1400.00 for windshield. 4-5x normal prices at that time and still 3x prices today.

Someone got taken advantage of.

The engine bay is a 6.

No AC.

Is it possible that they only thing they’ve managed to do for maintenance is to change the spark plugs in five years?

And really - who would drive a car with a fan that’s chipped out like that?

Funny how there is more discussion regarding HBChris than the car on this auction. :) Nice!

I wonder what percentage of Euro CSI’s came with AC and a sunroof. I suspect it’s quite low.

This car has been around the block so to speak. Has it ever been owned by an enthusiast? Not recently. This fact alone should affect bidding. It’s a nice car but unlike Kirk’s CSA, that @HB Chris just found a new home for, I wouldn’t call it an honest car.

John, I am going with the Gender Reveal on the last episode of MTV's "Jersey Shore." Brilliant.

There's not a lot of love for it is there! Funnily enough I think it looks quite attractive at first glance - perhaps with it being a colour you don't see every day - but the repairs to the floor do make you wonder what else might be lurking ....

i think the malaga color is wrong - too dark / too brown. doesn't have that red wine / claret luster that it should have. i remember this happening in 2002's that were repainted in the 70's / 80's . here's a pic of Chris Macha's previous malaga and you can see how beautiful the color is

Seller won't take off 10 screws to show no rust...

This isn't going to end well.

Zero maintenance in years
rusty block
beat up fan
The list goes on forever

Hope someone buys it and brings it to the shop. Nice knowing I can afford another trip to Europe.

Given the above concerns, it is interesting that the seller turned down $95k in 2021, and then turned down $72.5k last year (probably less of a drop than the downturn of the E9 market in that interval would suggest). Both bids were probably generous for this car. Not sure how the seller can expect to approach the 2025 bid without material improvements and/or better evidence to allay our concerns about the car.

are you sure you would want a client that would buy this car?

Pretty sure we will see an RNM again unless the seller decides to hit the dump it button. But hey, maybe it will wind up at Don's place?!

I've said this before but Malaga has to be shot over a white primer, not even a gray primer a white primer. I had a factory Malaga 2002 and as the paint on the rib on the hood got thin it was clear that the primer under there was white from the factory and not gray or any dark color. When the car was repainted over a gray primer it came out too dark. Lesson learned. To get that brighter color you have to start with a white primer and not overdo it.
