Quick question, when installing the window switches, does it matter what wires go to which spade connector? To clarify not in terms of which operates what window, but where each bundle of wires go on each individual switch.

Yes, it is difficult to get the wiring to reach the switches to do the install, and to get the switches to seat into the console if you don't have them in the right place. I found this old picture which might help you identify the rear two wiring sets. You can see where the front two sets sit down into the console, making it tough to install the switches even when the wires are in the right place.

My car is a 1972.

This is a 2800 us car schematic
As you sit in car perspective.
71 72 92 96 are the 4 switches.
Zoom in and you'll see pin numbers, which should also be on back of switch

You are making me thankful that I have the costly switches with the female connector as a single unit!

BTW: for others with these, hunt them down from Mercedes Benz instead. Same switch, 1/2 the cost.
