Windscreen fitting Problems

Another thread contained information about this firm in the UK that manufactures seals and weather stripping made to order. I have shared the images below with them. This shows what I believe are the original windshield gaskets (or a replacement that was available in the early 1990's when the windshield may have been removed from my coupe. There is substantially greater space within the seal for windshield and molding fitment.

Still planning to return the vehicle to the shop in the next week or two, along with the original windshield for sizing comparison and next steps.

I sympathise with your problem, I have sourced another windshield ,and am waiting for it to show up so I can attempt the process again!

My coupe has been at a ”local” restoration shop for the latest round of the windshield installation saga.

slow steps Forward this week. The W & N windshield was measured and relatively close i Size to the original, about 1/8 inch shorter on height. The windshield opening was templated and the new glass matched up and the top corners shaved.

with that done they were finally able to get the glass in with the molding…except the last inch or so resulted in the glass breaking.

So now I have ordered another windshield…that will (finger crossed) mean two windshields, two gaskets and three installers/shops.

OMG, so sorry to read this. How frustrating. Cannot believe this story has taken so many twists. There has been a lot of great advice here, but Man, you deserve a break! Beginning to get anxiety driving on the freeway, in case a semi throws a rock and I get a crack in my windshield, then I will have to repeat all of the above. Yikes! Best of luck with the next windscreen. Mike
