Hi all, need some advise from any of you with experience.
I am getting near the end of my rebuild, I had the windshield installer over the other day to put the glass back in, got the rear in OK, but the front he cant see how to do with the dash pad in place, the gap between the body and the dash pad only being about 3mm in places.
Not really sure whats gone on here, who really knows after 40 odd years, anyhow, as a fix there was a spiky lip of black vinyl on the front edge of the dash pad, i have decided (and done) to trim this off, it opens the gap for the screen rubber up to about 6mm ish, and while the dash pads is out, get it recovered by our local dashboard resto guy as it has a crack in one end and a earlier repair that wasn't very nice.
So, at this point I'm thinking, my windshield is pretty average anyway, and I don't want to have to go through any grief/risk down the track with the dash, the rubber seal for the windshield getting damaged, decorative molding that goes around the windshield getting wrecked etc, and I will bite the bullet and get a new windshield now and get the whole lot done in one go so I don't have to touch it again.
My question is...(as there are none in NZ) has anyone had experience with WN windshields?
they seem quite happy to ship to me here in NZ, but I'm just a bit nervous about it not being from BMW and finding it wont fit etc, I don't really have a problem with it not being OEM, I just don't want the grief of it coming 1/2 way around the world and find it doesn't fit!
I haven't contacted BMW for a price yet (to nervous) but landed here from WN I will be looking at about $1200, so its not a cheep exercise for me, I need to make sure its all going to work!
Thanks
Steve
