I've never removed a windshield before and at some point, probably soon, I'd like to repair the vinyl and wood in my dash. Can I expect to be able to reuse the rubber gasket or should I just get a new one to put in when it's time to reassemble? I have seen a few comments about the order of reassembly of the glass/rubber/chrome in some other threads so I will seek that out before I get that far but I'm not clear on the above question.

Thanks,

Jake

Totally depends on the condition of your existing gasket, it might be hard to get it out in one piece and without damaging it in any way.
You can always try, but why take the risk of having a leaking windshield gasket when there are new ones out there for a relatively good price.
Another thing to consider is if you use an old (hard) gasket, you'll probably have to put greater stress on the windshield when installing, which in turn might result in a cracked windshield.
I'd buy a new gasket.
