Hi everyone, as I’ve mentioned before, I’m currently working on restoring my electronic fuel injection wiring harness. While going through some reference photos, I noticed that this harness originally includes a round tube with five outlets for the injector connectors, among other things. According to the pictures, that tube is held in place by two clamps and sits right on top of the valve cover. However, since I got the car, that wiring tube has never been there — though one of the end caps is still present on the harness.

Now, a few questions:
Is that tube the same one used for the spark plug wire harness (the one that carries the high-voltage cables)? I’d think it’s different because it should be able to open up to allow the harness inside, while the spark plug wire tube is sealed. So this one should work more like a clam-shell type.

Does anyone happen to know the part number for it? I can’t find it anywhere in the OEM catalog. Or maybe someone has one of those clam-shell style tubes for sale?

Alternatively, has anyone tried modifying or cutting the standard tube that’s currently available from Walloth (SKU Art.-No. A12121351194)? If so, did it work? Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated!

I may check and compare tomorrow and let you know. DJet_donor_harness.JPG
This donor harness (with about a meter cabling missing in between) would be available.

Thanks a lot for the pictures — they’re really helpful as a reference! I do have one question though: I noticed that the cable going to the starting valve runs over the intake manifold, but in some other pictures I’ve seen it routed underneath. Do you know which is the correct routing for that cable?

Thanks again for taking the time to share those images — really appreciate it!

According to a post by @sfdon it runs under the manifold.

Yes Don, I can see that the little end cap makes the difference — does it have one on each end? Can that tube be opened? What would you recommend?

In my harness, I have one of those end caps, but to route the cables through without opening the tube, I’d basically have to de-pin all the terminals and feed them through…

I would replace all plugs anyway.. it’s time and they are inexpensive

Don thanks for the images!!!, do you happen to have one of those end caps for sale? Or does anyone else here have one available?

Also, a quick question about wire gauge — this harness uses 0.75mm, but have you guys used AWG20, or do you prefer AWG18 for better heat resistance and durability?

Thanks a lot everyone for your comments and input!

We keep original wire harnesses in bins to repair bad wires.
Try very hard to stay original.

That fitting you’re looking for goes on the plastic tube and then the wires go through it so you’re not gonna be able to take that thing off. It’s a solid circle unless you cut the harness somewhere and then pull it through.

Hi everyone,

This image has become pretty popular lately and is being referenced a lot—I think it was originally posted by our friend Don. Does anyone know exactly where this rubber grommet is supposed to go? If someone has more photos and can upload one showing the exact routing, that would be really helpful.

I believe it goes through one of the manifolds, where there’s a round opening, but I’m not completely sure. I’d also like to confirm whether, through the other manifold and the same opening, the cable for the cold-start injector passes through as well.

Thanks again!
