WTB: A New Daily Driver

The car arrived last night. It was 2 degrees out, but it had been in the negative teens for the last couple of days. Let's just say the car was cold soaked. But, begrudgingly, it started up.

There are now 6 cars in our 3 car garage. Hello, my name is Stephen and I have a problem.

It's not lost on me that all the cars on the floor are black, and all the cars floating in the air are white. There is some sort of heaven and hell thing going on in AutoKunst Garage (cue the music).

Autokunst, they are all German, that's what counts. And the only marques to own. There are support groups for all of what's going on in the Autokunst Garage. Actually, this is one and the most experienced.

Speaking of E39 things, some of you probably know that E39 BMWs have a unique hub diameter, making the hub-centric wheel fitment unique to this chassis. The hub is 74.1mm, a bit larger than other BMW hub sizes. I have a set of E60 5-series wheels that have been professionally machined to fit an E39. Set of 4. Not perfect, but very presentable. And light weight! Genuine/original BMW. 16x7 - I think the ET is 20. I suppose I should list these on the parts for sale thread, but since they are not E9/E3, I thought I'd try to sneak them in this thread before listing elsewhere. Let me know if anyone is interested. $300 for the set of 4 to the forum.

Just sharing an update. I began with a list of about 100 things I would like to (or need to) do to the car. As of today I've put about 1,500 miles on it, and have chipped away at a solid 8 or 9 items on the list. Although I chase old squeaks and rattles nearly every day, the car is a joy to drive. It makes me happy and puts a smile on my face. So far, driving a 27 year old car as a daily driver is a rewarding decision. Some photos from yesterday with new suspension, summer wheels and tires complete.

Love any e39 wagon, your looks great with the stance and the new APEX wheels! I think I said on here before that we've had three of them, one of the best looking wagon ever made.

Stephen it really looks great ... definitely one of the best touring / wagon / estate cars ever. i also like the audi rs6 ... but i HATE the pricetag.

Yep, the RS6 Avant would be my daily driver if I didn't have a company car but, more importantly, if I had that kind of money.
