WTB - Cigarette lighter.

Hello - I'm recovering my center console and discovered that the cigarette lighter has been damaged. The small lip round the top of the barrel that keeps it from falling through the hole has been cut/ground. Instead, someone rigged up a hokey setup using what looks like paper clip wire. (I'd put a facepalm emoji here if I knew how.)

Is this something that can come from a newer model, or is it best to stick with original E9?

I have the plunger already, just need the outside barrel. Willing to purchase both the barrel and plunger if needed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Keith

Assume you are speaking of the alum tube with the rolled lip. I may have one but the little brass nuts and the insulator on the bottom I may not have. Do you have all the other stuff and just need the tube, ie, did your lighter work before?

Bavbob,
Thanks for the reply.

You know, I probably should have added a picture to my posting. They're always helpful. My mistake.

So, here's what I have. What I'm calling the plunger is on the left and the barrel on the right. And the 2 paper clip wires that were sticking out of the barrel and wrapped onto the wood console. To me, it looks complete, but there's no obvious way to attach it. It just falls through the hole.

The inside diameter of the hole in the console is roughly 33 mm. The outside diameter of the barrel is roughly 28 mm. Maybe I'm missing something obvious here. It wouldn't be the first time.

I could certainly come up with some clever ways to attach it, but I like original if I can get it.

Thanks,
Keith

Aha! So not only am I missing that lip around the top, but also the rectangular shaped piece that looks like it provides a spring force to grab the console. Very nice. And thanks for the part number too.

Here ya go. Just pay me to ship it. Make a hybrid of yours and this. I hope you actually don' t have all this ( your image may suggest you do) and it falls through cause the hole was enlarged for some reason. The lip is visible, the outer sleeve is below, lip acts like a bolt, outer sleeve like a nut

There is the sleeve that the lighter fits into with a rolled edge that sits on the console and and alum outer shell that fits below the console. When you tighten the screw at the base of the setup, the outer alum tube pulls and seats the inner sheath with the rolled edge. PM me an image of what you have, is there two tubes or just one? If your lighter worked before, you have two tubes as one is pos and one is neg.

Bavbob,
Your last email made be think. Finally. This whole time I just assumed that it was correctly assembled when I took everything apart. You got me to look at the problem as a whole. And sure enough, it wasn't assembled right by the last person who did it. They had the two parts of the barrel together and then brought it up from below - hanging it with those stupid paper clip wires.

So, I disassembled the lighter, went and got the aluminum trim you described (it was still in the garage) and sandwiched the trim between the two pieces of the barrel. Worked great. Just like to was supposed to. Thank you!

Is there a forum for dummies like me to ask questions? I didn't know enough to even ask the right question in the first place.

Here's the newly covered console with lighter installed (minus the window and wiper switches).

Thanks again for your help,
