Hi Guys,
I'm re-building a manual ZF box. To my surprise when I pulled it down it's missing the top set of 2.48mm needle bearings. The bottom two sets are a different diameter. Anybody got a dead box I could rob them from?

Did you check with ZF Aftermarket. They still carry parts for the e9-era transmissions. I’m not sure about the steering boxes, but they could crossover.

Had a look, seems a bust.

Typically the parts books will list the dimensions of the bearings, and the few tech shops in my neighborhood have no problem sourching these.

Also, bmw may still stock/be able to supply. Did you check with them?

I've just opened up (partially) my power steering, pulling out the bearings requires special internal bearing pullers. Pressing new ones in requires a press of some sort, though a threaded rod e.g. M14 with two long nuts will also work.
(I've chosen to just clean and reinstall the original needles as I see no damage)

@Wes,

For a CSL steering box with the aluminum case, you can take a propane torch to
the case. The aluminum will expand faster than the steel and you can pull the bearings without a puller.
