WTB E3 Fan Shroud

Any overlap with the E9? I have the “Don version 3” with the shroud and fan and viscous clutch which I can sell - I had ended up with the “Don version 4” in the end.

Confirmed that that is the shroud I have, number 17 11 1 115083. Let me know if interested, and also have fan and viscous clutch.

I don't know if the over heating is caused by my B35 1992 engine. but it is an issue after everything else has been checked out.

Don, my mechanic has checked the pullys, clutch, belt and pump. Everything seems to be working. I am going ahead with the shroud(I hear your groan) and will post up-to-the-minute updates.

Strange, I've had fan shrouds make a huge difference on several of my old cars over the years. Mostly in the idling/slow traffic situations.

I threw away 5 last year including new ones.

With the updated fan clutch and fan and a sensor activated auxiliary pusher fan- not needed.

Use the 320i sensor at the bottom of the radiator- with a Spal pusher fan, the correct tstat, fan and fan clutch a fan shroud doesn't get used in this shop.

I pulled 3 tstats this year so far that were dead wrong …,
One in backwards and 2 were the constant every year why is this happening later housing - early tstat

Doomed for failures

And 2 more that were 71*
And one that was 75°

Only 80° people

In writing…

Early thermostats DO NOT work in later housings. Overheat immediately.

Late thermostats DO NOT work in early housings. Never warm up.

If your thermostat Housing has an embossed A on it, it is a later thermostat housing

Why not also use the shroud BMW's R&D team designed? They would not of gone to the trouble unless it was absolutely necessary. More efficient air flow is a no brainer. But yes it won't fix an underlying overheating issue.
