I have an e3 parts car. can anyone tell me if they are the same lock

According to BMW part catalog they are not the same.

There is different shape of the trunk / boot flap where the lock is mounted.

If you have an E3 donor you can still try to fit it in.

The E3 lock should fit, only the direction of locking is the other way round

You mean the internal mechanism only.
