as the boot on my blue E9 is toasted , i need a new one... now i see that the one on my red car is a "snap-on" type which clicks in the opening of the console with a preformed plastic frame around the leather .... . Not to be bolted or nailed with a steel inner frame.
Anybody knows that type and were to get it ???
 
perhaps a plastic frame that fits the OEM leather boot ? or a complete set ??
took a pic from the rally car with the bootframe a bit pulled out of the console.

i have found it and bought that from W&N ...just to have a try.

Now it doesn't fit well , the clips go in but not the edge. Made for a slightly greater opening. So i checked the one on the rally car and... indeed the plastic edge was cut and re-glued in both sides , wide and lenght. Now i also understand , like you can see in the pic, it shows as there is to much leather at the zip place.

For me it's OK, the customized go's in my blue one , the new one in the rallycar . It clips firmely and no problem that the edge rest above.... :)
 
Interesting. Took apart the console and looks like original nails holding the bracket keeping the boot on.
 
i replaced mine and reused the original tacks. remember, they go into the 'end' grain of plywood.
