i've got a spare that is currently at the powder coater. happy to sell the spare if you can wait a week.
 
Thanks! If anyone happens to have one ready to go in any condition that would be great! I'm anxious to get the plumbing connected and fluids back in!

Just as a side note.
Have you considered putting in a heater bypass valve when you are in there ?
Just asking, as I recently got my car back on the road and have now realised that the car gets very hot inside even with the heater turned to off and that’s with a completely rebuilt heater system with all new seals etc etc.
I think I will try and retrofit a bypass to mine at some stage.

Bypass + heat absorbing tape on the exhaust + new insulation on footwells --- and potentially consider AC
 
Thanks Barry! I love the forum... a great opportunity to learn about things one doesn't know that they didn't even know to think about before! With my newly acquired "intimate" knowledge of the heater box, I can confidently say that any bypass valve would be "best" on the engine side of the firewall and it could be done without touching the heater box assembly (unless one wanted to cut it into the metal heater core assembly somehow!) That said, I am trying to maintain an original stock look as much as possible so I will wait to see if it's an issue in my car and address it later if needed.

DLC, good thoughts! Another option to consider, which came to me while spending multiple hours with my head under the transmission tunnel, would be the use of a small aluminum style reflective heat shield similar to what one would find on most modern cars where the exhaust runs close to the passenger compartment. This would be a nice opportunity for a creative forum member/fabricator to create an inconspicuous design to sell to thermally challenged E9,E3,E10 owners :-)

@Barry.b You live in Ireland, don’t you use the heater year around? lol

I guess I am just lucky, I don’t get that much heat from heater box and I didn’t add insulation to the floors or add a heat shield above the muffler.

I know, I never thought I’d struggle with the heat in my home country ! :)
We are having a heatwave here at the moment
I think the last one was in 1995 lol

As my car is right hand drive, the driver sits on the side which is right beside the exhaust pipes so I guess that’s not helping me either.
