I am in desperate search for this part. I have the other three and now need this one for the front, preferably as NOS but if you have on thats in pretty good shape, I'd be interested. Please reach out to me even if you dont have it but think you know where I might find one. I have been searching high and low. Thanks everyone!

I think this is what you mean:

Erik... I cant believe it... but these guys say they have one in stock. Are they reputable? have you done business with them before? This think will cost me a pretty penny, but its worth it to me if they have it and ship it so it arrives safely and not damaged. I owe you a favor, Erik. This is my stock '81 E12. I fell in love with her in '84 when I bought it as my first great car out of college with 64K miles on her.

Thanks a lot for suggesting them, but they dont have anything in decent shape. Erik (posting on this thread guided me to a retail NOS opportunity. I am in the process of buying it now. What a terrific resource!

Wow. Great first car out of college. I was broke, paying back student loans and bought a Pontiac. Having owned big US boats, worked on them and honestly believed that they were good cars has given me a distinct appreciation for BMWs.

No no no! First GREAT car out of college. I had cars with no floor boards, one without an accelerator pedal (used baling twine through the small grill infront of the windscreen that ran from carb thru wing vent to a stick (piece of wood)). But my e12's claim to fame is having BWM recognize it by displaying it at their NA HQ in Montvale, NJ when in search of the nicest e12 DRIVER in NA. She got the nod! BMW flew me home when I delivered the car and flew me back out to get her after the car show. i have about 300K miles on her.

That brings me back. I drove my 1970 Plymouth Duster with a race-built 340 magnum engine, 4-speed manual and fixed posi-traction rear end with a bailing wire through the cowl vent and into my open driver's side window in lieu of a proper throttle cable to the pedal for a while. Although my floors were solid - I just broke the cable when changing out the carb and manifold and bought myself some time with the rigged setup. BEAUTIFUL E12, by the way! Absolutely gorgeous!!!

I can/ will vouch for Joachim. I’ve know him since the mid 80’s and buying parts from him since.

My first great car out of college was my 73 malaga e9! Bought in 1984 when I got my first "real" job. Quite an upgrade from a Triumph Spitfire!

I cant believe you had a Triumph. I had the pleasure (one I still dream about) of having a Spitfire IV, as i recall. I was buying and selling cars to put myself through college and my rich buddy needed his car sold and wanted 800.00 for it. It ran like a top. If I sat any lower I just remember having to focus on not feeling any pain that might come when my buns were riding the white lines down the highway. But it rant so well. I am actually looking for one... albeit passively. I know nothing about e9's but love the photos like these. Need I point out... a lot more sporty than my 4-door box that I love so much.
